Description

The Operational Excellence Project and Portfolio Manager will manage the construction and maintenance of the overall Operational Excellence project portfolio including intake, opportunity analysis, prioritization, goal setting, road mapping and status reporting of all backlogged, active and completed Operational Excellence projects.  

The Manager will leverage project management best practices and set the standard for other project leaders by personally leading key Operational Excellence projects focused on improving product and process quality as well as business, warehouse and back office process efficiency improvements. The Manager will also coach and mentor other Operational Excellence project leaders whether they are directly reporting to the Manager, or embedded in the various businesses of Quantix.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Project Management:
  • Lead the chartering, resourcing and execution of Operational Excellence projects from inception to delivery with a “hands-on” and “I understand the subject matter” approach not simply task management.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules as needed to meet project goals in a timely fashion. 
  • Provide timely, concise and clear status reports to management and stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of communication.
  • Leverage, support and lead process improvement projects using appropriate methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma

2. Portfolio Management:

  • Coordinates with leadership on the definition of strategic to define Operational Excellence objectives project portfolio objectives
  • Analyzes and reports on the impact of the entire Operational Excellence portfolio against strategic goals, calls out gaps to plan, leads and supports gap closure brainstorming and action
  • Advises leadership on prioritization and ongoing optimization of the project portfolio based on project metrics and KPIs (quality, efficiency, productivity, etc.)
  • Reports on portfolio progress, performance, and risks to stakeholders using metrics, data visualization to executives 

3. Change Management:

  • Provides strategic thought leadership on change management in general to create, build and strengthen the Quantix Operational Excellence culture.
  • Ensures effective & pragmatic best practices in change management are leveraged across the Operational Excellence project portfolio
  • Ensures seamless handoff of project work to business stakeholders to maintain improvements including the creation of SOPs, the delivery of training and establishment of performance management KPIs.  
  • Facilitates project and portfolio scope changes and project direction adjustments in a positive and supportive manner in order to facility organizational agility when business priorities change.
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area to this job description
  • 10 relevant professional post-graduate experience in business
  • 5+ years leading the execution of projects and change management in a business environment
  • Working knowledge with process improvement techniques and best practices
  • Demonstrable proficiency in software tools like MS Office in order to lead large, dispersed teams through project execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or other STEM area
  • Black Belt certification through ASQ, prior employer or other certification body
  • PMP and/or Agile certification
  • 5+ years managing portfolios of projects while leading and coaching other project leaders
