Find out more here: http://smhs.gwu.edu/ GW’s Department of Medicine, Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension performs a full range of clinical and academic activities including primary and referral care of patients with kidney diseases, hypertension and kidney transplantation, teaching and research. Among its research centers is the Dr. Dominic Raj’s Laboratory which focuses on how the microbiome is altered in patients with kidney disease and methods of leveraging gut microbiome to treat kidney disease. Other areas in which we conduct research include: (a) inflammation in patients with kidney disease; (b) exploring diagnostic and therapeutic potential of microRNAs in patients with kidney disease; and, © epidemiological studies examining the cause for the sudden cardiac death in hemodialysis patients. We use flow cytometric techniques to identify cell population associated with progression of diabetic kidney disease, sequencing techniques to determine the community composition of microbiome and metabolome to evaluate the microbiome-host co-metabolism. This role of a Research Assistant acts as a supportive position that contributes to research/development by assisting with experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. The core responsibilities of this position include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures, and assisting with administrative aspects of preparing manuscripts for publication. This role typically works under immediate supervision, and the primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment. Other duties include: This position may perform some lab maintenance duties as a secondary function. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of flow cytometric and sequencing techniques.
