Job Description

tap|QA seeks a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst for a contract-for-hire position!  Our client is an exciting, up and coming technology company based in Louisiana.  This individual will be based locally in Minneapolis, with some travel to Louisiana required (the rest of the work can be done in our office, or potentially via telecommuting). 

PLEASE NOTE: this position requires travel.  If travel is not an option, please do not apply for this position.

General Purpose: Produce financial and market intelligence by querying data repositories and generating periodic reports.  Devise methods for identifying data patterns and trends in available information sources. Lead the Operational Enhancement (OE) team and manage projects in the OE pool. Completes business cases in support of projects.

Specific Responsibilities:

    • Disseminate information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements.
    • Conduct or coordinate tests to ensure that intelligence is consistent with defined needs.
    • Analyze competitive market strategies through analysis of related product, market, or share trends.
    • Synthesize current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action.
    • Communicate with customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, or others to stay abreast of industry or business trends.
    • Manage timely flow of business intelligence information to users.
    • Collect business intelligence data from available industry reports, public information, field reports, or purchased sources.
    • Identify and analyze industry or geographic trends with business strategy implications.
    • Analyze technology trends to identify markets for future product development or to improve sales of existing products. 
    • Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients and other stakeholders.
    • May act as a project manager on some projects.
    • Identify or monitor current and potential customers, using business intelligence tools.
    • Maintain or update business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods.
    • Leads the Operational Enhancement Project Team
      • Participates in Business Process Modeling sessions, acting as a documentarian, co-facilitator, facilitator, or subject matter expert in sketch sessions.
      • Conducts interviews and performs analysis in order to create Business Cases for projects.
      • Conducts preliminary investigation for all project requests. Reviews requirements, specifications, test, support and training plans to ensure they are in line with business objectives on projects.
      • Participates in Business Process Management group efforts to collect and analyze metrics and continually improve processes owned by the group.
      • Participates in root cause analysis in order to recommend product enhancements or other appropriate actions to improve productivity for both the business units and IT.

Qualifications

Requirements: BS in Business or Computer Science with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience with business operations, database/systems development, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and negotiation skills, data process modeling, data warehousing, extract transform and load  (ETL), SQL reporting services, knowledge of competition, industry (energy, manufacturing, insurance, correctional, and regulatory) happenings and knowledge of how the Company is positioning itself is a plus.
