A summer opportunity is available in the Diabetes Clinical Research Program at Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI).  BRI is committed to eliminating autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, and immune system diseases such as allergies and asthma. An internationally-recognized medical research institute, BRI accelerates discovery through laboratory breakthroughs in immunology that are then translated to clinical therapies.

The Research Assistant will work with BRI’s Translational and Diabetes clinical teams to increase awareness and generate interest in the pediatric component of our Clinical Research Control Registry. This work will take place through the medium of events, public relations, and social media.

Responsibilities include identifying contacts in education and service organizations for kids, helping plan and bringing visibility to upcoming recruitment events, setting up and attending these events, and discussing our research with families to explain the importance of healthy children participating in clinical research. The Research Assistant will also help produce fun, scientific materials that will help kids of varying ages get excited about research participation.

This is a temporary position (up to 90 days), 40 hours per week.

• Must have a valid driver’s license

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with an interest in life sciences and medical research. Experience in marketing is a bonus. The Research Assistant will be provided with opportunities to write editorial content and promotional materials.
