About CORE: The Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) is an externally funded, independent team of scientists, researchers, and data experts with a vision for a healthier, more equitable future. Based in Portland, Oregon, we work with a wide variety of cross-sector partners to take on today’s biggest barriers to better health with an emphasis on social determinants. Through this work, we deliver insights that help shape and sustain healthier systems, policies, programs, and communities. Our unique approach combines rigorous scientific research and analytics with authentic community partnerships to drive meaningful change. We help gather, analyze, interpret, and use data and information for better decision-making and more effective programs and policies centered on local communities and beyond. We’ve also helped our partners access funding, expand pilot programs, gain new skills, advocate for policy change, and shape strategy. Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE)  Providence 

The Associate Research Scientist designs research projects, develops partnerships, and acts in the role of co-investigator on large research projects. They provide leadership for small grant and contract-based studies and collaborate with other scientists and managers from a variety of disciplines, both within and external to Providence Health & Services.

Required qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Sociology, Public Health, Health Services, Psychology, Epidemiology, or related field. Or
• Ph.D. in Sociology, Public Health, Health Services, Psychology, Epidemiology, or related field.
• upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
• Master’s plus 6 years of experience in health services research or related industry. NOT concurrent with degree.
• Master’s plus 6 years of experience developing, managing, and leading research projects. NOT concurrent with degree.
• PhD plus 2 years of experience in health services research or related industry. May be concurrent with degree.
• PhD plus 2 years of experience developing, managing, and leading research projects. May be concurrent with degree.
• Experience writing and publishing research articles in peer review journals.
• Experience with scientific writing including academic articles and grants.
