Overview

The Deka Services Field Support Engineer has responsibility for identifying and executing greenfield, replacement, maintenance and large scale warranty battery system projects, as well as, the oversight, monitoring and troubleshooting on installations in North America.  The Field Support Engineer is expected to acquire and apply an advanced level of knowledge in the areas of Warranty Administration and Inside Sales Support to advance the Deka Services manifesto.

This position is remote and will travel across the United States.

 

Estimated salary range: $70,000 - $90,000

 

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and evaluates technical information with the purpose of determining and proposing EPM battery products and accessories that fulfil customer requirements.
  • Identifies the full spectrum of products and scope of services required to quote new project opportunities.
  • Coordinates with customer engineers or other representatives to verify equipment requirements, equipment sizing, schematics, and measurements.
  • Performs site surveys and field measurement work as needed to support the coordination effort.
  • Reviews submittal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Confirms availability of products and materials and schedules for installations.
  • Manages project execution (installation, preventative maintenance, and testing services) through on location oversight, coordination and participation.
  • Monitors on-site installation processes and procedures:  assisting, troubleshooting and performing remediation activities as required.
  • Provides direction and guidance to service contractors performing on-site services that include installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ensures field services are effective and customer requirements are met.
  • Collaborates with customer’s Project Engineer/Project Manager, service organizations and various East Penn disciplines to resolve issues effectively.
  • Attends and/or leaders coordination meetings for service contractors and customers.
  • Creates, modifies and/or eliminates processes and procedures that fail to add value to Deka Services business results.
  • Responds accordingly and promptly to emergency service requests and changing conditions of projects.
  • Compiles and ensures timely submission of close-out packages to customers.
  • Creates and provides detailed reports for customer and internal requirements.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in engineering or related field; equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered
  • 5-7 years of experience at a supervisory, management, or senior professional level role with emphasis on engineering/ project management of Field Service work 
  • Relevant experience/expertise with customer DC Power systems and applications; electrical and battery systems, warranties, lead-acid batteries, packaging/palletizing
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Skills & Competencies

  • Thorough understanding of warranties, lead-acid batteries, packaging/palletizing
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC power systems and high voltages
  • Ability to analyze/troubleshoot problems and formulate alternative/creative solutions to problems
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate, and lead others in order to deliver projects successfully
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation abilities
  • Patience and tact to bring about acceptable results in adversarial situations
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret specifications, technical manuals, and equipment specifications warranties
