Lead Food Laboratory Technician for Food Testing Laboratory

Since 1967, Deibel Laboratories has operated several private food testing facilities providing services in both Microbiology and Chemistry testing. We play an integral role in food and product safety for industry-leading producers, as well as family-run operations much like our own. 

Our lab location in Niles, IL is hiring a full-time Lead Food Laboratory Technician for Food Testing Laboratory  (40 hours/week plus benefits included).

Compensation: Starting hourly rates $20 - $22 D.O.E. plus a competitive benefits package. 

Shift Available: Sunday - Thursday 10am -6:30pm(Close); Tuesday - Saturday 10am – 6:30pm (Close) 

• Performs all operations pertaining to current laboratory functions.
• Performs and coordinates all Service Calls to clients and answers client questions
• and will refer client to Technical Services for questions they cannot (or should
• not) answer.
• Ensures the laboratory is sufficiently staffed, runs efficiently (all shifts are
• covered, and overtime is limited) & conforms to all current Quality Management
• Systems.
• Ensures our high Service & Quality standards are met and keeps our clients
• happy.
• Ensures that the days’ workload is covered with adequate staff, samples are
• completed in a timely manner, ideally without overtime; and all Micro samples
• are setup the same day they are received.
• Performs on the spot re‐training of associates, as needed; deviations noticed
• from improper technique results in the test being re‐done.
• Assists the Lab Manager in any way needed, or as directed.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related and/or 1-3 years of experience in a related field, preferred but not required.
• A combination of both education and experience will be considered.
• Knowledge of microbiology techniques and instruments such as BAX systems, 3M MDS, plate readers and autoclaves.
• Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and minor repair of laboratory instruments.
