About the role

The role provides a timely and professional management reporting function for the OCG by consolidating information and advice on the financial impact of the current operation and future plans and facilitates compliance with relevant financial management and accounting policies, procedures and standards across the agencies and within Government.

We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to: 

  • Work closely with Manager Finance & Business Services to coordinate and prepare OCG’s annual budgets for different OCG directorates.
  • Provide financial analysis including cost saving, forecasting and budgeting strategies, in addition to advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders to assist decision making.
  • Prepare and provide quality, timely and accurate financial management reports to OCG executive team, including commentaries on finance results.
  • Provide business partner services to OCG directorates to ensure monthly financials are accurately presented in the finance reports and obtain information from directorates to feed into financial forecasts.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Sound knowledge of and experience with financial reporting and possess highly developed Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and priorities to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Strong experience in management accounting and financial analysis, reporting and budgeting.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting and full membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Certified Practising Accountants of Australia or equivalent.
  • Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and related vetting checks.
  • All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current NSW Working with Children Check.
